The word "research" gives rise to hope. Your generosity, in part, enables us to expand knowledge about ALS in order to discover its causes and to develop a cure for this devastating disease.
Currently, there is no treatment that can cure ALS or significantly extend the life of people living with the disease.
Nevertheless, research continues tirelessly, yielding many breakthroughs and the acceleration of results due to advances in neurology and other areas of science. Moreover, Canada stands out as the world leader in research on Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis.
Since 2000, the ALS Society of Canada has partnered with the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and Muscular Dystrophy Canada to create the Neuromuscular Research Partnership. This unique partnership enables us to fund high-quality, relevant research on neuromuscular disorders.
